Reports: Google Incredibly Didn’t Anticipate Being Dropped From iOS 6 Maps, “Scrambling” To Create App
The Verge and The New York Times reported yesterday that the Google-Apple contact still had a year to run when Apple announced in June that it would use its own data for Maps, catching Google off guard. But according to a Wall Street Journal article in June, Google suspected that it would happen. But there’s still no app.

Nothing? Google’s done nothing? Despite knowing this change was coming for months, Google hasn’t created a Google Maps app to make up for Google being dropped out of the native Maps application in iOS in the same way it made a YouTube app to cover being dropped from the native Video application?
Time to parse what “haven’t done anything” may mean.
In contrast to the dismal assessments of Apple Maps that you’ve been reading, I actually don’t believe when it comes to local search that Apple is quite as far behind as people imagine.
