Nothing? Google’s done nothing? Despite knowing this change was coming for months, Google hasn’t created a Google Maps app to make up for Google being dropped out of the native Maps application in iOS in the same way it made a YouTube app to cover being dropped from the native Video application?

Time to parse what “haven’t done anything” may mean.

In iOS 6, Siri has the ability to tweet from the lock screen. There is no way that could be a problem….

Having lost visibility in Apple’s iOS 6, Google Maps is using a big, new ad that touts Google Maps mobile capabilities and invites existing users to “take your map anywhere.” Here’s what it looks like on a desktop.

As Google Maps Disappears In iOS 6, Google Remains Cagey About Releasing Its Own App

The latest version of Apple’s operating system for iPhones and iPads, iOS 6, is now out. As people upgrade, the Maps application previously powered by Google is now being replaced by Apple’s own homegrown one. Not everyone’s happy. Will Google release its own Google Maps app for iOS 6 users? The company, in its latest statement, remains unclear.

That containment wasn’t something average consumers widely understood, I’d say. To them, Siri was just some cool new tool that let you ask your iPhone for stuff. It was a subtle way to dump Google without consumers ever realizing that Apple dumped Google…. That’s how you fight Google, if you’re Apple. No bombs get dropped; no consumer is even aware that you were fighting a war.
